Em The Lament of Autumn, Cheng Lei será o filho de uma família rica que sofre uma tentativa de assassinato no local onde Xu Ruonan trabalha. A jovem, que está lá apenas para conseguir bancar o tratamento médico de sua mãe, é falsamente acusada de ser a mandante do crime. Correndo contra o tempo, ela agora terá dez dias para provar sua inocência.
